Tender Maps Exhibition
I'm pleased to share that a new publication of mine is included in a group show at SITE, London. This work features new writing that takes the apple harvest as a starting point, drawing on its seasonal rhythms and lingering traces as a metaphorical framework. The publication unfolds through the seven classical stages of alchemy, using them as lenses to explore connections between analogue photography, ecology, personal memory, and transformation. Tender Maps is an exhibition by a collective of artists responding to polycrisis, featuring quilt, barricade, text, sound, film and performance.It is an experiment in cartography - an attempt at navigating the unknowns of changing climates, political intervention, and compassionate persistence. Each contribution is an extension of another’s work, culminating in a collective response to shared concerns for our species’ survival and hopes for better future.
Tender Maps brings together a number of artist who have been learning together at the New School of the Anthropocene, and educational project that seeks to restore the intellectual adventure and creative risk that formerly characterised arts education.
The artist come from diverse fields and practices, including bat sound recordist, activist, jazz musicians, analogue experimental filmmakers, mark-makers, poets, clay-workers, textile workers, coracle-wavers, and many more besides. We are united by the desire to respond rigorously and creatively to the climate and nature emergency; to tell stories of the revolution, renewal and repair.
